WOW! House Collaboration

Cork Bathroom Flooring play a key role in this fantastic design by Studio Mica

Wow! House Cork Bathroom Flooring

Our fantastic cork bathroom flooring played a key role in one of the designs in this year’s WOW!House interior design show.

For those unfamiliar with the event, it’s a unique, 500m2 showhouse, built within the Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour, London. 18 full size rooms are created by world class interior designers, working in collaboration with globally recognised design brands.

Earlier this year Flooring by Nature was approached by the fantastic team at Studio Mica to help with their design for the House of Rohl bathroom.

The objective was to design a luxury bathroom, featuring natural materials. This included Natural raffia wallcoverings, clay wall tiles and of course cork floor tiles supplied by Flooring by Nature.

We worked with Studio Mica to source the best colours to complement the overall design of the bathroom and settled on a chequerboard design with a border to the perimeter. Resulting and a real statement floor that helps to tie together all aspects of the overall bathroom design. This shows just how versatile cork can be as a material for flooring, and remembering it is zero plastic and entirely renewable.

House & Garden magazine said of the design:

“Stepping into this bathroom feels like you’ve left the UK altogether, and have landed in a tropical rainforest…an earthy colour palate complements brass hardware, timber, clay and cork with woven paper yarns and raffia wallcovering. It’s a feast for the eyes”

Whilst many cork flooring options are larger planks or tiles featuring a click system. To make a bespoke design it was important to go back to traditional cork tiles. Made from 100% cork and designed to be fully adhered to the sub-floor. This allows the tiles to be cut precisely to shape and placed in more complicated laying patterns such as the chequerboard and border combination featured in Studio Mica’s design.
