Pure Cork, No HDF — Safe for Bathrooms and Kitchens

The reason EarthTone Glue Down tiles can be used in bathrooms, while click cork flooring cannot, comes down to construction.

Click cork floors like EarthTone Click and Montano have an HDF (high density fibreboard) core. HDF can swell with sustained exposure to moisture and humidity — which is why those products aren't suited to bathrooms.

EarthTone Glue Down tiles are pure cork throughout. Cork is naturally moisture tolerant, and without an HDF core there's nothing to swell or deteriorate in humid conditions.

Glued directly to the subfloor, they create a solid installation that performs reliably in bathrooms, en-suites, kitchens and utility rooms.

So if you've been searching for cork flooring for a bathroom and found conflicting information — the short answer is: pure cork glue-down tiles like these are the ones to choose.

Pre-Finished and Unfinished Options

EarthTone Glue Down tiles are available in both pre-finished and unfinished formats. Pre-finished tiles are ready to use immediately after installation and sealing.

The unfinished (natural) option is popular with professional fitters and contractors who prefer to apply their own finish — giving full control over the final appearance and sheen level. For unfinished tiles, apply a minimum of 3 coats of a recommended cork sealer
after installation.

Is EarthTone Glue Down Compatible With Underfloor Heating?

Yes — EarthTone Glue Down tiles are compatible with underfloor heating. Cork's natural thermal properties pair well with underfloor heating systems, helping to retain warmth efficiently.

Follow standard acclimatisation guidance and ensure the subfloor temperature remains within the limits recommended by your underfloor heating manufacturer.

EarthTone Glue Down vs EarthTone Elements — Which is Right for Me?

Both EarthTone Glue Down and EarthTone Elements are pure cork glue-down tiles with the same moisture tolerance and 4mm thickness. The main differences are:

Tile size — EarthTone is a classic 300 x 300mm square tile. EarthTone Elements is a larger 600 x 300mm rectangular format which creates a more contemporary look and suits larger rooms particularly well.

Colour coordination — EarthTone Elements colours are designed to coordinate with our EarthTone Click range, making it the better choice for open-plan spaces where you want continuity between click and glue-down areas.

Colour range — EarthTone Elements offers more colour options overall and tends to suit more modern interiors. EarthTone Glue Down includes the unfinished natural option, which is unique to this range.

If you're fitting a smaller bathroom or a more traditional space, EarthTone Glue Down's classic square format is often the better fit. For larger, more contemporary spaces, EarthTone Elements' larger tile and wider colour palette is worth considering.

Installation

EarthTone Glue Down tiles are adhered directly to a prepared subfloor. Ensure the subfloor is smooth, level, dry and clean before starting.

We recommend Wakol D3540 adhesive and Lobadur Easyfinish sealer — applying 1–2 coats to pre-finished tiles, or 3 coats to unfinished tiles.

Allow a minimum of 24 hours for the adhesive to dry before sealing. Full installation instructions are provided with every order.
