Our seagrass carpets are 100% natural and entirely undyed, which means the warm, golden-green tones you see are exactly as the plant left them. Over time, with natural light exposure, the colour gently matures to a soft, pale gold - a living quality that makes each installation truly one of a kind.
Available in three weave styles - Herringbone, Fine Weave and Weave - there's a texture and pattern to suit every interior, from relaxed country homes and period properties to clean, contemporary spaces.
Why choose seagrass carpet?
- Hardwearing - the natural waxy coating of seagrass fibres resists everyday wear, making it well suited to hallways, living rooms, stairs and high-traffic areas
- Allergen-friendly - stiff fibres don't trap dust or pet dander making seagrass a smart choice for allergy sufferers
- 100% plastic free - no synthetic backing, no microplastics, no hidden chemicals
- Naturally antibacterial - the unique properties of the fibre help resist bacteria and odours without any chemical treatment
- Sustainable - seagrass is a fast growing plant, absorbing CO₂ as it grows
- Fully biodegradable - at the end of it's life, seagrass will eventually biodegrade leaving no man-made materials behind, read more in our FAQs about biodegradability in carpets

Frequently Asked Questions About Seagrass Carpet
Is seagrass carpet hardwearing enough for hallways and stairs? Seagrass is a tough and hardwearing fibre and with a Heavy Domestic wear rating will cope well with heavy foot traffic in hallways. However, it's a fairly brittle fibre so doesn't suit installing on stairs where they need to form over step edges. If you'd like a natural fibre carpet for a staircase, we would recommend sisal carpet.
What room is seagrass carpet best suited to? Seagrass performs well in most rooms of the home, including living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways and home offices. The key areas to avoid are anywhere with high moisture, bathrooms, utility rooms and kitchens are not recommended.
Equally, it's not recommended to install on stairs as the fibres are best laid flat and don't form well over step edges.
What's the difference between seagrass and sisal carpet? Both are natural fibre carpets, but they have distinct differences. Seagrass has a smooth, slightly waxy feel underfoot, while sisal has a coarser, more textured surface. Seagrass cannot be dyed, so it's only available in it's natural golden-green tones. Sisal can be dyed and is available in a wider range of colours. Seagrass is not recommended to be installed on stairs but sisal is great on staircases. If you're weighing up the two, our sisal carpet ranges are worth exploring for comparison.
How do I clean and maintain seagrass carpet? Regular vacuuming with a suction-only setting (no beater bar) is all that's needed for day-to-day maintenance. For spills, act quickly - blot, don't rub - using a dry cloth. Avoid soaking the carpet with liquid cleaners, as seagrass is sensitive to moisture. Use a dry specialist natural fibre cleaner for spot treatment where needed. Mud and dry debris are best left to dry fully, then brushed off with a firm bristle brush.
Is seagrass carpet sustainable? Yes we believe seagrass carpet is a far more sustainable alternative to standard man-made fibre carpets. Seagrass grows rapidly in costal and riverside environments - primarily in Vietnam and China - without need for irrigation, fertilisers or pesticides. It actively absorbs CO₂ as it grows. Our seagrass is 100% undyed and chemical free and utilises a natural latex backing.
How is seagrass carpet installed? Seagrass carpet should be installed using the double stick (glue down) method. This is where the carpet is adhered directly to a suitable underlay, then underlay is also adhered or tackified to the sub-floor. This gives a firm, flat finish and is particularly recommended for natural fibre carpets like seagrass as it prevents the carpet from excessive expansion and contraction over time.
For best results, seagrass should be acclimatised in the room for 24-48 hours before installation. The subfloor should be clean, dry, level and free from any moisture before laying begins.
We recommend professional installation for seagrass carpet.
Does seagrass carpet have a smell? Newly laid seagrass carpet often has a mild, hay-like natural scent - a sign of genuine, untreated natural fibre. This is completely harmless and will dissipate naturally within a few weeks as the carpet airs.
