The Heritage Breed carpet is inspired by some of Britain's oldest and rarest hill sheep — eight colourways, each named after the breed whose fleece tones inspired it. Britain has been producing wool for centuries, and some of its most extraordinary fleece comes from breeds that most people have never heard of. The Heritage Breed carpet is a celebration of that quiet legacy — a carpet range inspired by eight rare and heritage British hill sheep breeds, each colourway carrying the name of the animal whose natural fleece tones shaped it.

Balwen. Cotswold. Kerry Hill. Manx. Moorit. Norfolk Horn. Ryeland. Soay.

These are not marketing names — they are real British sheep breeds, many of them rare, some of them endangered, all of them producing wool with a natural colour and character entirely their own. The palette of the Heritage Breed range is defined entirely by those natural fleece tones, blended by skilled manufacturers to produce colourways of extraordinary depth — warm moorland browns, soft greys, creamy naturals and rich earthy tones that no chemical dye could convincingly replicate.

The construction is a cut pile — softer and more yielding underfoot than a loop pile, with a velvet-like surface that responds to light in a way that makes the natural colour variations particularly visible and beautiful. The pile is 100% undyed British wool, entirely free from synthetic dyes, flame retardants and moth prevention treatments. The pile is plastic-free. The carpet uses a lightweight Envirobac backing that uses significantly less material than a standard carpet backing while maintaining full performance.

This is a carpet for someone who wants to know exactly where their floor came from — who values provenance, craft and natural beauty over trends. It suits period properties and contemporary interiors equally well, precisely because its palette is drawn from the landscape rather than from a designer's colour chart.

As with all natural fibre products, some variation between batches is inherent and expected — this is a feature of natural material rather than a defect, and contributes to the uniqueness of every installation. We strongly recommend ordering samples before purchasing, particularly as the cut pile surface and natural colour depth of the Heritage Breed is something that needs to be seen in person and in your own lighting conditions to be fully appreciated.
